Qualifying rounds will be held for colts, fillies, mares, and stallions over the first three days, culminating in championship finals on the last day to determine the winners in each class. This year’s show builds on the success of previous editions, solidifying Qatar’s position as a key hub for equestrian sports.
The Growing Popularity of the Arabian Horse Show
The Doha International Arabian Horse Show has quickly become a significant date in the regional equestrian calendar. This growth reflects the increasing importance of Arabian horse breeding and showing within the Gulf States, and Qatar’s commitment to supporting this heritage. The event provides a platform for breeders and owners to present their finest horses and compete for recognition.
Traditionally, Arabian horses have held a special place in the culture of the Arabian Peninsula, valued for their endurance, beauty, and intelligence. These qualities have made them highly sought after for both riding and showing. The show aims to preserve and promote the breed’s unique characteristics.
Competition Details and Prize Money
Each championship will award gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top three competitors. The financial incentives are considerable, with QR120,000 awarded for first place, QR90,000 for second, and QR70,000 for third in each championship. This substantial prize money is expected to attract top-tier horses and riders from the participating nations.
The competition will be judged based on a standardized system evaluating conformation, movement, and overall presentation, according to the rules set by the European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations (ECAHO). Judges will assess each horse’s adherence to the breed standard, looking for qualities like a refined head, high tail carriage, and graceful gait.
