Qatar has been actively mediating reunification efforts for children affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine, successfully reuniting 10 Ukrainian children and four Russian children with their families. Dr. Al Ansari highlighted the importance of cooperation between both parties in ensuring the safe return of these children and shielding them from the impacts of the ongoing conflict.
The international community has been urged to intervene and stop the war in Lebanon, as it poses a significant risk of broader regional escalation. Dr. Al Ansari stressed the urgent need for all parties involved to cease fighting and work towards a ceasefire. He also drew attention to the situation in Gaza, where aid entry restrictions have led to severe food shortages and deliberate starvation among residents.
In a positive development, Qatari citizens will soon be able to travel to the United States without a visa, following Qatar’s inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Programme. This move reflects the strong strategic relationship between Qatar and the US and highlights the level of confidence in Qatar’s safety and international relations. Similar visa exemptions have been announced by Japan, the United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan for Qatari citizens, easing travel procedures and strengthening diplomatic ties.
