Qatar Drag Race Championship wraps up action-packed third round

Doha, Qatar – The Qatar Racing Club (QRC) concluded its third round of the Qatar Drag Racing Championship on Friday, crowning six new category champions and significantly altering the season standings. The event, held at the QRC’s dedicated drag strip, drew a record number of participants from across Qatar, the Gulf region, and beyond, showcasing the growing popularity of the sport. QRC Director General Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al Thani presented the awards to the podium finishers.

Thrilling Competition at the Qatar Drag Racing Championship

This latest round of the championship saw fierce competition across all categories, with drivers and riders pushing their machines to the limit. The contests were held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, highlighting the importance of motorsports in Qatar. Organizers reported strong spectator attendance throughout the event, adding to the electric atmosphere.

Index Class Results

In the Index 10.00 class, Ali Youssef Rabia emerged victorious, breaking Ahmed Hassan’s streak of wins from the opening two rounds. Ahmed Al-Emadi followed in second place, securing his third podium finish of the season, while Khalaf Al-Saad completed the top three. The Index 9.00 category witnessed Mohammed Khawari take the top spot, defeating Mohammed Al-Thuwaini in the final race. Mohammed Idris secured third place.

The Index 8.50 (Cars) class also crowned a new champion, Hamdan Al-Kaabi, followed by Adel Ghanem, who maintained his consistent performance with a second-place finish. Rakan Ali Al-Ajmi rounded out the podium. Shifting to the eighth-mile contests, Batti Al-Ali won in Index 4.80, besting Mohammed Al-Faraih, who was runner-up for the second consecutive round. Nasser Ghanem achieved his first podium of the year with a third-place finish in this category.

New Faces and Repeat Winners

The Super Street category saw a particularly noteworthy debut, as Mohammed Ali Haji claimed the championship title in his first appearance, defeating previous rounds’ winner Rashid Al-Bloushi. Khalid Al-Kandari secured his initial podium of the season, finishing third. However, the Index 4.50 class saw a familiar face on the top step, with Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim claiming his second title of the championship after another win over Rashid Al-Bloushi.

Motorcycle and Street Bike Action

The Index 8.50 (Motorcycles) category, boasting the largest field of competitors with 36 entrants, produced a fresh lineup of winners. Hussain Ashkanani took the win, followed by Khalifa Al-Shrooqi and Youssef Al-Duraish. In the Street Bike class, Ahmed Karam secured his second championship title of the season, defeating Mohammed Al-Salem, who repeated his second-place finish from the previous round. Dawood Al-Sharshani marked his debut in the class with a third-place finish.

The results of this round demonstrate the increasing depth of talent within the drag racing community in Qatar and the surrounding region. Competitors are continuing to refine their skills, and the level of competition is steadily rising, which is further fueled by the pursuit of motorsport excellence. This event underscores the QRC’s commitment to providing a platform for both established and emerging racing enthusiasts.

Following the conclusion of this exciting round, the QRC series is now scheduled to pause for a two-month break. The championship is expected to resume at the end of February 2026 with the final two rounds of competition. Stakeholders will be monitoring competitor standings and any potential rule adjustments announced before the resumption of competitive racing.
