Euro 2024 has been filled with exciting football and enthusiastic fans throughout Germany, but many of the biggest stars in European football have failed to make a significant impact on the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo, playing in his record sixth Euros, has yet to score a goal in three games, while Kylian Mbappe has only scored once for France. Robert Lewandowski, Antoine Griezmann, Phil Foden, and Romelu Lukaku are also among the high-profile players who have struggled to find the back of the net during the group stage.

Despite the underwhelming performances from some of the top players, there have been some surprising standouts in the tournament. N’Golo Kante has been instrumental for France, even after moving to play in Saudi Arabia. Youngster Jamal Musiala has been Germany’s leading light, outshining veteran stars like Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan. Niclas Fuellkrug, Ivan Schranz, and Razvan Marin have all scored multiple goals for their respective teams, while Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze leads the tournament in scoring with three goals.

The competition has also seen a high number of own goals, with seven players inadvertently scoring in their own net, making up 26 percent of all goals in the tournament’s history. Despite the surprises and disappointments, Spain has emerged as one of the top teams in the tournament, with Fabian Ruiz and Marc Cucurella stepping up as key players for the team. With 15 matches left to be played before a champion is crowned on July 14 in Berlin, fans are eagerly waiting for the star players to make their mark on the tournament.

Injuries, shaky form, and bad luck have plagued many of the top stars in Euro 2024, with players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Luka Modric failing to live up to expectations. Kane and Bellingham scored goals for England but have struggled overall, while Modric had a difficult start before scoring against Italy. Veterans like Ronaldo, Griezmann, and Lukaku have also been unable to find their scoring touch, leaving fans and coaches hopeful that they will come alive in the knockout stages.

As the tournament progresses, the focus will shift to the knockout stages, where teams will battle it out for a chance to be crowned champions in Berlin. With exciting matches and surprising performances, Euro 2024 has already provided plenty of entertainment for fans around the world. As the star players look to make their mark on the tournament, football fans can expect even more excitement and drama in the coming weeks as the competition heats up towards the final showdown in Berlin on July 14.
