England’s stand-in captain Ollie Pope is confident that Chris Woakes will lead the pace attack in the upcoming three-Test series against Pakistan. The bowling attack for England has changed since their last tour to Pakistan, with James Anderson retiring, Mark Wood injured, and Ollie Robinson dropped. Woakes, along with Gus Atkinson and debutant Brydon Carse, will need to step up to fill the gaps left by the absence of key bowlers.

Pope praised Woakes’ hunger and desire to play test cricket, noting that he has been working hard to improve his skills on different surfaces. With Anderson’s absence, Pope believes that Woakes has the potential to be a true leader of the pace attack. Atkinson’s pace and reverse-swing skills will be valuable in Pakistan, and Pope has high expectations for Carse as well, highlighting the depth of England’s bowling options.

Although England will miss Anderson, Pope is confident in the skills of the pace bowlers in the squad to adapt to the challenging conditions in Pakistan. Coach Anderson will soon join the squad in Multan to provide his expertise. Regular captain Ben Stokes is recovering from a hamstring injury, leaving Pope to lead the team in this series against Pakistan.

On the other side, Pakistan is determined to bounce back from a recent 2-0 whitewash by Bangladesh, with skipper Shan Masood stating that they have plans to neutralize England’s aggressive style. Masood expressed confidence in the playing XI selected for the series, with consideration given to the opposition and the playing conditions. The Pakistani team believes that the selected players give them the best chance against England.

As the series approaches, both teams are gearing up for a competitive battle on the field. England will rely on the experience and skills of their pace bowlers to challenge the Pakistani batters, while Pakistan will look to their strategic approach and playing XI to counter England’s aggressive style. The absence of key players like Anderson and Stokes will put pressure on the respective teams to step up and deliver strong performances throughout the series.

With both teams eager to secure victory in the series, cricket fans can expect an exciting and closely contested battle between England and Pakistan. The absence of key players on both sides will create opportunities for younger bowlers and batsmen to showcase their talent and make an impact in the series. As the action unfolds in Pakistan, the cricketing world will be watching closely to see which team emerges victorious in this highly anticipated series.
