The new academic year 2024/2025 has begun in the Sultanate of Oman, with a total of 811,679 students returning to schools across the country. The breakdown of student enrollment includes 409,122 boys and 402,557 girls, spread across various educational directorates. The students are filled with determination and hope for the year ahead as they embark on their educational journey.

The distribution of student enrollment by grade level reveals 307,765 students in grades 1-4, 275,953 students in grades 5-8, and 227,961 students in grades 9-12. Additionally, 74,078 students are entering the first grade for the first time, while 2,080 students are enrolled in special education programs. These students are attending 1,287 schools in the Sultanate, with different schools catering to different grade levels.

The education sector in Oman continues to expand and adapt to ensure that each student has access to quality education in an environment that supports their academic and personal growth. The addition of 23 new schools this year reflects the effort to accommodate the growing student population and provide adequate resources for their educational needs.

As students return to their studies, they are supported by a network of schools that range from grades 1-12 and offer continuous education across multiple grade levels. Furthermore, 127 schools will operate in the evening period to cater to students’ diverse needs and schedules. The emphasis on accessibility and flexibility within the education system highlights Oman’s commitment to providing a well-rounded learning experience for all students.

Overall, the start of the new academic year in Oman marks a significant milestone as over 800,000 students return to schools with optimism and determination. The government’s investment in education is evident through the establishment of new schools and programs, which aim to enhance the quality of education and support students’ development. The collaboration between students, educators, and educational institutions is crucial in shaping a future generation of skilled and knowledgeable individuals who will contribute to the growth and success of Oman.
