The Sultanate of Oman and the Federative Republic of Brazil recently marked the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations by hosting the Omani-Brazilian Investment Forum in Muscat. The opening ceremony, presided over by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, brought together representatives from private sector companies in both nations. Over the two-day event, discussions centered around investment opportunities, clean energy, re-exporting, heavy industries, food security, and information technology, as well as the exchange of expertise in research, innovation, agriculture, space, and mining.

Brazilian Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino Oliveira, emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in investment and economic sectors during his address at the forum. He highlighted the significance of showcasing successful commercial experiences and boosting cooperation between Oman and Brazil. Pankaj Khimji, Adviser for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, noted that the forum confirmed the deep diplomatic relations between both countries, offering a platform to spotlight Oman’s business and investment environment.

The event included a multi-sectoral expo titled “Made in Brazil,” which featured products and services from Brazilian companies and factories. This expo aimed to showcase the Omani market’s potential and explore opportunities for leveraging Omani free zones for re-exporting goods to Asian, East, and North African countries. Additionally, Omani entrepreneurs engaged in business-to-business meetings with their Brazilian counterparts during the forum, fostering closer ties and potential collaborations between the two nations.

The investment forum provided a valuable platform for Oman and Brazil to strengthen their economic ties and explore mutually beneficial opportunities across various sectors. Participants discussed key areas such as clean energy, heavy industries, and information technology, seeking to enhance cooperation and exchange knowledge in research, agriculture, space, and mining. By showcasing successful commercial experiences and promoting partnerships in investment, both countries aim to deepen their economic relationship and capitalize on shared interests and opportunities for growth.

The expo “Made in Brazil” highlighted the diverse offerings of Brazilian companies and factories, providing a glimpse into the country’s capabilities and products. This expo not only demonstrated the potential of the Omani market but also served as a platform for exploring collaboration opportunities and enhancing trade between the two nations. With a focus on leveraging Omani free zones for re-exporting goods to strategic regions, the event aimed to facilitate discussions on expanding business ties and tapping into new markets for mutual benefit.

As Omani entrepreneurs engaged in meaningful discussions and B2B meetings with their Brazilian counterparts, the forum facilitated valuable exchanges and interactions that could lead to concrete partnerships and collaborations. By exploring the potential of the Omani market and studying ways to leverage Omani free zones for re-exporting goods, both countries sought to identify avenues for mutual growth and prosperity. The investment forum underscored the commitment of Oman and Brazil to strengthening their economic relations and fostering closer cooperation in key sectors, paving the way for enhanced trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
