The National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) in Saudi Arabia has achieved significant success, with total non-oil commodity exports surpassing SAR206 billion by 2023. The program has initiated 283 projects, with 102 completed by the end of 2023, contributing to more than SAR345 billion to the gross domestic product. The annual report of the program titled “Renewed Horizons” highlights the program’s impact on the macroeconomy, support for the gross domestic product, and achievements related to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. The program has also been successful in increasing the number of workers in its sectors to over 204,000, with more than 82,000 being Saudi men and women.

NIDLP’s contribution to the overall economy and gross domestic product is significant, exceeding 35%. The growth rate of non-oil exports has reached an impressive 74%, indicating the program’s impact on the macroeconomy. The report showcases various achievements across all sectors implemented by the program. In the energy sector, gas injection has begun in the processed gas storage project in the Hawiyah reservoir in Unayzah, with a storage capacity of 2.0 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. Additionally, six new solar energy projects with a capacity of 6.2 gigawatts were launched to increase the percentage of renewable energy in the Kingdom.

The mining sector has also seen progress, with the General Geological Survey program completing over 30% of the total area of the Arabian Shield in 2023. In the industrial sector, four new special economic zones have been launched, bringing the total number to five. The establishment of the National Automotive Company (CEER) was announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marking a significant milestone in the automotive industry. An agreement with Lucid Motors was also signed to establish the first factory for the production of electric cars, in line with the Kingdom’s focus on sustainable energy solutions.

The logistics sector has seen significant advancements, with the launch of the general plan for logistics centers as part of the Kingdom’s transformation into a global logistics platform. Leveraging its unique geographical location that connects three important continents, the program aims to enhance the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub. The report also highlights numerous success stories of individuals, executive agencies, and companies in the private sector, showcasing the overall impact of NIDLP on the economy and industrial development in Saudi Arabia.

Established in 2019, NIDLP aims to position the Kingdom as a leading industrial power and a global logistics platform through four main sectors: energy, mining, industry, and logistics. The program focuses on harnessing the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and local content to maximize economic impact. With significant achievements in various sectors and a strong commitment to local employment, the program is poised for further expansion and growth in the coming years.
