Qatar’s national football team has received a boost with the return of striker Mohammed Muntari to the squad after recovering from a lengthy injury. The 30-year-old player, who has 60 international caps, is set to join the team for important FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates. Muntari suffered a knee injury in December last year, which kept him out of action for several months. However, he has made a successful comeback with his club Al Gharafa, scoring goals and showcasing his form in recent matches.

Head coach Marquez Lopez has named a 27-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers, with Muntari expected to join star forwards Akram Afif and Almoez Ali in Qatar’s attack. The team will first face Uzbekistan in Doha on November 14 before traveling to Abu Dhabi to take on the UAE five days later. Qatar is aiming to improve their position in Group A standings, as they currently have only four points from their first four matches, trailing behind Iran and Uzbekistan. Despite the slow start, Lopez remains optimistic about Qatar’s chances and is determined to fight for a spot in the World Cup.

In addition to Muntari, the squad includes new call-ups such as Al Sadd midfielder Mustafa Tariq and Al Duhail left-back Homam Al Amin. The team will be missing some players who have been dropped, including Mohammed Ayash and Naif Al Hadhrami. Lopez is confident in the abilities of the players he has selected and believes they have what it takes to secure positive results in the upcoming qualifiers. Qatar’s mission to qualify for the World Cup may be challenging, but the team is prepared to give their all until the last minute of the final match.

The FIFA World Cup qualifiers are a crucial opportunity for Qatar to secure a spot in the prestigious tournament. The top two teams from each of Asia’s qualifying groups will earn direct berths to the World Cup, while the third and fourth-placed teams will advance to the next round of qualifiers. Qatar will need to put in strong performances in the remaining six matches to improve their position and secure their spot in the World Cup. With the return of key players like Muntari, the team is hoping to turn their fortunes around and make a strong push for qualification in the coming matches.

Fans of Qatar’s national football team will be eagerly anticipating the upcoming qualifiers as the team looks to bounce back from a challenging start to their campaign. The return of Mohammed Muntari provides a significant boost to the squad, adding experience and firepower to the team’s attack. With star players like Akram Afif and Almoez Ali also in the mix, Qatar will be aiming to put in strong performances in the upcoming matches against Uzbekistan and the UAE. Head coach Marquez Lopez is confident in his team’s abilities and is determined to fight for their chances of qualifying for the World Cup. Qatar fans will be hoping for positive results in the upcoming qualifiers as the team looks to achieve their ultimate goal of securing a spot in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
