Sumayyah Rajah, a British expat in the UAE, has two grown autistic children, which inspired her to start a service for families with neurodivergent children. She noticed the understanding and inclusivity of the UAE towards the People of Determination when she first visited with her children. This led her to establish Home Care Dubai, which provides care and nursing services for both neurodivergent children and elderly parents in the UAE.

Home Care Dubai has a team of six staff members who are trained to provide tailored care plans for each family’s specific needs. For children with autism, they use an Autism Passport to understand the child’s preferences and communication methods. They help with after-school activities, homework, and behavior interventions. Staff members are trained in autism and the triad of needs to ensure they can adapt to each child’s requirements.

The onboarding process for staff members at Home Care Dubai focuses on establishing a uniform standard of customer service in care delivery. They emphasize excellence in both skills and customer service to provide top-tier levels of care. Staff members are trained in autism, different profiles of autistic children, behavior reinforcement, and health and safety certifications. They also undergo role-playing scenarios to understand the diverse needs of each child.

Sumayyah is particularly passionate about the companionship program for neurodivergent teenagers offered by Home Care Dubai. Instead of a traditional nanny, they provide therapists or personnel to engage with the teenagers, teach them life skills, and introduce them to new experiences. This program aims to help teenagers gain independence and develop important life skills while offering support to busy parents.

As a co-founder of the service, Sumayyah prioritizes compassionate care and goes above and beyond for clients. They seek feedback from families after each booking to ensure the care provided is person-centered and meets the unique needs of each family. By focusing on individualized care plans, comprehensive training for staff, and a dedication to compassionate service, Home Care Dubai strives to make a positive impact on the lives of neurodivergent children and elderly parents in the UAE.
