In Doha, Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health has issued a warning against the use of e-cigarettes, emphasizing the significant health risks associated with their consumption. By law, the sale, distribution, and advertising of e-cigarettes is prohibited in the country. The ministry highlighted that e-cigarettes contain toxic chemicals and can lead to various health issues such as heart disease, cancer, gum and mouth sores, and nicotine addiction. The prevalence of electronic cigarette use among tobacco users in Qatar is around 11%, and the ministry urges people to stop smoking e-cigarettes.

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar has warned against the use of e-cigarettes due to the various health risks they pose. Smoking doubles the risk of developing coronary heart disease, increases the risk of long-term lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and is responsible for almost 90% of lung cancer cases. The ministry emphasizes that vaping is not a recognized method to quit smoking, lacks scientific backing, and is not endorsed as a smoking cessation aid by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Qatar has implemented robust tobacco control measures, including comprehensive smoking bans in public places and strict regulations on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship. The country aims to reduce tobacco consumption and curb the uptake of smoking among youth. Awareness campaigns are frequently conducted to highlight the health risks of smoking and advocate for smoke-free environments. The healthcare system in Qatar offers resources for smoking cessation, including counseling services and nicotine replacement therapies.

In Qatar, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) provide smoking cessation services to support individuals in quitting smoking. The PHCC offers the service across 15 health centers, and the Tobacco Control Center at HMC also offers smoking cessation services. The Ministry of Public Health continues to warn against the use of e-cigarettes and emphasizes the need for individuals to quit smoking for overall health and well-being.

With more than 37 million young people worldwide smoking e-cigarettes, the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar is taking proactive steps to address the issue and raise awareness about the dangers of electronic smoking devices. The ministry’s warning against vaping is part of efforts to curb the use of e-cigarettes and protect public health. By highlighting the negative effects of e-cigarettes on health, the ministry aims to educate the public and encourage individuals to make informed choices about their smoking habits.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar is committed to reducing tobacco consumption and promoting smoke-free environments. Through comprehensive tobacco control measures, awareness campaigns, and smoking cessation services, the ministry is working towards improving the health and well-being of the population. The warning against the use of e-cigarettes underscores the serious health risks associated with vaping and emphasizes the importance of quitting smoking to prevent various diseases and health complications. Individuals are encouraged to seek support from healthcare providers and take steps towards a smoke-free lifestyle for better overall health.
