The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar recently concluded the Qatar Infection Prevention and Control Week scientific conference with the theme “Moving the Needle on Infection Prevention.” The event brought together over 1,000 health practitioners, infection prevention specialists, local and international experts, as well as representatives from various healthcare organizations. Leaders of Qatar’s healthcare sector, healthcare workers, and key stakeholders involved in infection prevention and control were also in attendance.

The conference featured presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions by experts in the field. Infection control teams from several health organizations were honored for their efforts in preventing infections while providing healthcare to patients in the Gaza Strip. Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Sidra Medicine, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), and Doha Clinic Hospital presented their new initiatives, techniques, and mechanisms to promote best practices in infection prevention and control.

The conference was part of the Ministry of Public Health’s activities to mark Qatar Infection Prevention and Control Week. A social media awareness campaign was launched to promote awareness of infection prevention and control in healthcare facilities. The campaign included messages focusing on this year’s theme of “Moving the Needle on Infection Prevention.” Additionally, a workshop was organized to provide hands-on training to participants on managing pandemics and outbreaks of communicable diseases. The workshop sessions focused on practical strategies for managing communicable disease outbreaks.

In Qatar, several healthcare institutions held educational lectures and competitions as part of the week. The Ministry of Public Health’s efforts in collaboration with its partners aim to increase awareness and promote best practices in infection prevention and control. By bringing together experts in the field and honoring infection control teams for their efforts, the conference highlighted the importance of preventing infections in healthcare settings. The various initiatives and mechanisms presented by healthcare organizations demonstrate a commitment to promoting excellence in infection prevention and control.

As part of the event, leaders in Qatar’s healthcare sector, healthcare workers, and key stakeholders had the opportunity to engage in discussions, share best practices, and learn about new initiatives in infection prevention and control. The conference provided a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among professionals in the field, ultimately working towards improving infection prevention practices in healthcare facilities. Through the social media awareness campaign and hands-on training workshop, participants gained valuable insights and practical strategies for managing and preventing the spread of infections in healthcare settings.

Overall, the Qatar Infection Prevention and Control Week scientific conference served as a valuable platform for healthcare professionals to come together, share knowledge, and learn about new initiatives in infection prevention and control. The event underscored the importance of preventing infections in healthcare settings and highlighted the efforts of healthcare organizations in promoting best practices. By honoring infection control teams and providing opportunities for education and training, the conference contributes to improving infection prevention practices in Qatar’s healthcare sector.
