The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) in Muscat has recently released the 37th issue of the Duqm Economist Magazine, focusing on key achievements in investment, project localization, and infrastructure development. Investments in special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities have reached over OMR20.1 billion by the end of H1 2024, showing a 20% growth from the previous year. The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad) has seen a significant increase in investment, with a growth of 55% bringing its total value to OMR2.1 billion.

Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, highlighted the government’s continuous programs and initiatives to attract investments and promote economic growth in line with Oman Vision 2040. The authority has implemented various initiatives to enhance services for investors, including digital transformation to streamline processes and improve efficiency. The magazine also emphasized the growing role of Omani women in the economy, with 3,554 women employed in companies within these special economic zones and industrial cities.

The Duqm Economist Magazine covers a wide range of topics, including “Green economy: Path to sustainable development,” “Sezad and promising opportunities in localising manufacturing industries,” and “Innovative investment: Path to a sustainable and advanced economy.” The magazine also explores the importance of open data in promoting transparency and innovation in Oman. Additionally, the magazine delves into the food industry, showcasing 47 food projects in the Salalah Free Zone with investments exceeding RO 775.6 million, which further strengthens Oman’s position as a major hub for food industries.

With a variety of articles covering important economic developments in the Sultanate of Oman, the Duqm Economist Magazine serves as a valuable resource for investors and individuals interested in staying informed about the country’s economic progress. The magazine’s coverage of diverse topics ranging from infrastructure development to the role of women in the economy demonstrates Oman’s commitment to sustainable growth and attracting investments in various sectors. This publication is a testament to the country’s efforts to create a conducive environment for business and economic development.
