Loan Laux, a Dubai resident, has always admired the captivating views of countries like Turkey and Iraq while flying over them. This curiosity led him and his wife, Kaouthar Azzoune, to embark on an epic 8000-km road trip from Dubai to Brittany in northwest France. Their journey took them through Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Turkey, with plans to head to Greece, Albania, Italy, Switzerland, and finally, France. Their ultimate goal is to reach France in time for Bastille Day on July 14 and then continue their travels to Spain and Algeria. The couple’s love for off-road trips and adventure has driven them to explore new landscapes and cultures along the way.

Loan and Kaouthar’s trip gained unexpected popularity through reels they posted on Instagram. Their reels showcased their daily experiences, humorous voiceovers, and interesting encounters with locals. To their surprise, their followers skyrocketed from 7,000 to 36,100, with millions of views on their videos. The couple never anticipated such a response but are grateful for the support and interest in their journey. This sudden fame, while exciting, has added an unexpected element of stress to their trip. Despite not being influencers, Loan and Kaouthar have embraced the attention and are sharing their adventures with a wider audience.

Inspired by fellow French expat Clement Piard, Loan and Kaouthar decided to forego renewing their apartment lease in Dubai and embark on a self-funded summer adventure. Their remote work setup provided them with the flexibility to pursue such an extensive trip. Equipped with a modified Lexus LX470 and essential gear for long-haul travel, the couple navigated through winding roads, minor setbacks, and unexpected challenges. Meticulous planning and caution helped them avoid major roadblocks, ensuring a safe and memorable journey.

Their Instagram reels capture the authenticity of their experiences, offering a glimpse into lesser-known aspects of the countries they visit. While travelling through Iraq, Loan and Kaouthar debunk common misconceptions by highlighting the kindness and generosity of the locals they encounter. Sampling local cuisine, exploring hidden gems, and embracing the hospitality of strangers are all part of their enriching journey. Despite the unexpected fame and attention, the couple remains grounded and focused on sharing the raw beauty of their travel adventures with a global audience.

As Loan and Kaouthar continue their road trip towards France, they reflect on the serenity and solitude of their secluded stops in Turkey. Amidst lush landscapes, majestic mountains, and welcoming communities, the couple discovers the true essence of travel – to connect with unknown places and people. While emphasizing the importance of research and caution, Loan advises future travelers to stay informed and vigilant, especially in regions with potential risks. As they chase sunsets and uncharted territories, Loan and Kaouthar exemplify the spirit of adventure and resilience in the face of the unknown.
