The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, recently addressed inquiries about land transportation enterprises in Bahrain. The kingdom’s transportation sector includes companies serving the global tourism and international passenger transportation sectors. Bahrain has 17 tourism transport companies and 19 international passenger transportation firms. Additionally, there are 170 domestic cargo transport entities and 142 international cargo operators operating within the country.

In Bahrain, there are 24 domestic transportation companies offering various services such as taxis, minibuses, and shared rides. These companies play a crucial role in connecting different neighborhoods, markets, and cultural landmarks on the island. The Minister emphasized the importance of regulatory standards in issuing land transportation licenses to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of services provided by transportation establishments.

The Minister highlighted specific regulations that transportation companies must adhere to, including the requirement to have a designated yard for operational activities and ensuring compliance with the minimum vehicle quota specified by the regulations. These regulations are designed to streamline operations and enhance the overall quality of transportation services in Bahrain. Additionally, Al Kaabi mentioned the ongoing efforts with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to establish a unified executive statute for land transportation across the region.

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is committed to upholding stringent regulatory standards in the issuance of land transportation licenses in Bahrain. The regulations are aimed at ensuring the safety, efficiency, and quality of services provided by transportation companies. With a focus on designated yards and minimum vehicle quotas, transportation establishments are required to adhere to specific guidelines to maintain operational standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Bahrain’s transportation sector plays a vital role in connecting various parts of the island, including neighborhoods, markets, and cultural landmarks. With a network of domestic and international transportation companies, the kingdom offers a range of services in tourism, passenger transportation, and cargo handling. The regulatory framework established by the Ministry aims to create a conducive environment for transportation companies to operate effectively while prioritizing safety and quality standards.

The partnership with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries underscores Bahrain’s commitment to regional cooperation in the transportation sector. By working towards a harmonized executive statute for land transportation, Bahrain aims to align regulatory frameworks and enhance collaboration across GCC territories. This proactive approach to regional integration demonstrates Bahrain’s leadership in fostering a cohesive and efficient transportation network that benefits residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
