Al-Nassr’s sporting director, Fernando Hierro, recently explained the decision to exclude Brazilian defender Alex Telles from the team’s squad this season as a technical one. He mentioned that the team is only allowed to play with eight foreign players, which led to Telles’ exclusion in favor of players with promising futures in football. Hierro emphasized that the decision was purely based on footballing reasons and did not diminish the importance of Saudi players within the squad.

Furthermore, Hierro expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of new head coach Stefano Pioli, highlighting that his appointment was a collective decision made in the best interest of the team. He jokingly addressed the speculation surrounding coaching appointments, emphasizing that the focus should be on what benefits the team rather than individual influences. Hierro commended the club’s recent signings, Angelo Gabriel and Wesley, stating that they are talented players who will contribute positively to Al-Nassr.

Hierro also discussed the challenges of managing a team with 10 foreign players while only being allowed to field eight. Despite this limitation, he emphasized the importance of respecting the rules and making strategic decisions to ensure the team’s success. Reflecting on the pressures of leading a globally recognized club like Al-Nassr, Hierro acknowledged the expectations and scrutiny that come with the position and expressed his commitment to improving the team’s performance.

In terms of the team’s midfield options, Hierro praised players like Abdullah Al-Khaibari, Mokhtar Ali, Otávio, Marcelo Brozović, and Ali Al-Hassan, highlighting their contributions to the team. He mentioned that decisions regarding new signings in the midfield will be made at the appropriate time to enhance the team’s overall performance. Hierro concluded by expressing gratitude to Al-Nassr’s fans for their continued support, acknowledging their passion and dedication to the club.

In summary, Fernando Hierro’s insights shed light on the technical decisions and strategic considerations involved in managing a team like Al-Nassr. His explanations regarding player exclusions, coaching appointments, and team dynamics provide valuable insights into the team’s operations and goals. Hierro’s focus on respecting rules, making collective decisions, and prioritizing the team’s success reflect a thoughtful and strategic approach to leadership within the club. Overall, his remarks convey a sense of determination, dedication, and gratitude towards the team and its supporters.
