The Saudi Family Affairs Council recently launched an awareness campaign called “The Green Family” to educate families about climate change. The campaign was initiated in honor of the International Day of Families, celebrated on May 15 each year. This campaign aims to bring attention to the national efforts being made to address climate change, coinciding with the United Nations’ focus on family, climate change, and its impact on society. Dr. Maimoonah bint Khalil Al Khalil, Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council, emphasized the importance of families actively participating in afforestation initiatives and educating their children about the effects of climate change.

The “Green Family” campaign encourages families to play a role in promoting sustainability and climate awareness within their households. It emphasizes the significance of community support for national initiatives aiming to combat climate change for the benefit of future generations. The Council’s goal is to raise awareness among families regarding how climate change can impact their lives and the importance of teaching children sustainable habits and climate consciousness from a young age. The campaign also highlights Saudi Arabia’s efforts through the Saudi Green Initiative, which focuses on afforestation, biodiversity protection, and reducing carbon emissions for a sustainable future.

The Green Family Campaign is designed to reach out to families and society at large by providing various media materials showcasing Saudi Arabia’s progress in tackling climate change. This initiative involves collaboration with over 50 government entities and non-profit organizations to raise awareness and promote climate action. By shedding light on the importance of early education and integrating climate change into school curricula, the campaign aims to empower families to take a proactive stance in addressing environmental challenges. This holistic approach underscores the role of the family in contributing to a sustainable future and emphasizes the significance of instilling eco-friendly practices in today’s youth.

Through the Green Family Campaign, the Family Affairs Council is working to engage families in environmental conservation efforts and foster a culture of sustainability within communities. By emphasizing the interconnectedness of climate change with family well-being, the campaign encourages families to get involved in initiatives that support a greener future. The Saudi Green Initiative’s comprehensive strategy addresses key environmental issues and seeks to mitigate the impacts of climate change through targeted actions. By raising awareness and promoting active participation, the campaign aims to mobilize families and society as a whole to combat climate change and create a more resilient and sustainable world for generations to come.

By promoting the Green Family Campaign, the Saudi Family Affairs Council is striving to educate families on the importance of taking collective action to mitigate climate change. By emphasizing the need for individual contributions to larger environmental initiatives, the campaign seeks to empower families to make a positive impact on their communities and the planet. With a focus on education, awareness, and community engagement, the campaign serves as a platform for families to learn about climate change, advocate for sustainable practices, and actively participate in efforts to create a healthier and more sustainable future for all. Through this initiative, families are encouraged to embrace a green lifestyle, support environmental conservation projects, and play a role in shaping a more eco-conscious society.
