The country’s significant leap to the second position in this ranking showcases its strong digital infrastructure and its positive impact on the growth and development of the digital economy, as well as its ability to attract investments.

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission in Saudi Arabia highlighted the country’s continuous progress in the ITU ranking, reinforcing the strength of its digital infrastructure and its contribution towards enhancing the digital economy. With a rapidly expanding communications and technology market, Saudi Arabia stands as the largest and fastest-growing in the Middle East and North Africa region, boasting an estimated market size of 166 billion riyals. The penetration rate of mobile communications service subscriptions has soared to 198% of the population, demonstrating the widespread adoption of digital services among the Saudi populace.

The average monthly per capita data consumption in Saudi Arabia has surpassed the global average by 3 times. With such impressive statistics, Saudi Arabia is clearly at the forefront in terms of digital development and technology adoption. The country’s commitment to improving its communication and technology services is reflected in its high ranking in the ICT Development Index (IDI) issued by the International Telecommunication Union. This index serves as a key indicator of a country’s digital development and the robustness of its digital infrastructure, providing transparent data and methodology created by member states and teams of experts in the field.

The positive performance of Saudi Arabia in these global rankings underscores its position as a leading player in the digital landscape. The government’s focus on developing and expanding its communication and technology sectors has been instrumental in driving the country’s digital transformation and economic growth.
