A humanitarian convoy of 15 trucks was deployed by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to deliver food and nonfood aid to displaced Palestinian families in northern Gaza. The convoy was attended by various officials including the Director of Communication and Fundraising at QRCS and the Secretary-General of JHCO. This convoy is the latest in a series of joint deployments by QRCS and JHCO, with previous convoys totaling 38 relief trucks earlier this year. The aid provided in the convoy includes food parcels, drinking water, and winterization aid to meet the key humanitarian needs of people in northern Gaza.
This batch of aid includes 3,000 food parcels loaded on five trucks, marking the third phase of food aid for displaced families. Previous phases have already provided approximately 20,500 food parcels. In addition, two trucks are carrying 4,000 pure water jerrycans to provide clean drinking water to those in need. Two trucks were also deployed as part of the Adahi sacrificial meat project, containing a total of 2,100 kg of canned beef. This meat is provided in 2,050 boxes, equivalent to 49,600 cans. Previous deployments included the meat of 1,500 sacrificial animals to Gaza.
In addition to food and water aid, the convoy includes winterization aid as part of QRCS’s #TheirWarmthIsOurDuty Warm Winter Campaign. Six trucks loaded with diverse winterization aid were deployed to help displaced families cope with the cold winter weather. Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza, QRCS has contributed 116 planeloads of diverse relief aid, as well as part of the cargo of a Qatari aid ship, providing up to 4,766 tonnes of relief items for Gaza. This ongoing support aims to address the critical humanitarian needs of displaced families in northern Gaza and help enhance their resilience in the face of ongoing challenges.
Overall, the joint efforts of QRCS and JHCO in deploying humanitarian convoys to Gaza demonstrate a commitment to providing essential aid to those in need. The diverse range of aid provided, including food parcels, clean water, and winterization aid, addresses the key humanitarian needs of displaced families in northern Gaza.
