According to the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, the country registered 4.7 million air passengers in July 2024, marking a 10 percent increase from the same period in 2023. Flight movements also surged by 7 percent, with 24,179 flight movements recorded in July 2024. Additionally, air cargo and mail saw a 13.9 percent increase in July 2024, carrying 222,415 tonnes compared to 195,244 tonnes in July 2023.
Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) experienced its busiest month in July 2024, with 4.73 million passengers passing through the airport. This achievement solidified the airport’s position as a key global aviation hub, with airline partners increasing flight frequencies to meet the rising demand for summer travel. Qatar Airways, the country’s national carrier, also expanded its network of destinations and launched seasonal summer operations to enhance connectivity at the airport. Overall, flight movements at HIA increased by 3.9 percent in July 2024 compared to the previous month.
In June 2024, Qatar saw a positive momentum in its air cargo sector, with a 10.1 percent increase in cargo volume compared to June 2023. The total air cargo volume reached 214,823 tonnes in June 2024, up from 195,029 tonnes the previous year. Flight movements also saw a rise of 11.3 percent in June 2024, with 23,257 flight movements reported during the month. The number of air passengers also increased by 16.4 percent in June 2024, with 4.351 million passengers arriving at HIA compared to 3.738 million in June 2023.
