The State of Qatar recently participated in the regional preparatory conference for the 2025 Global Disability Summit in Amman, Jordan. The event brought together ministers, officials, and representatives from various sectors to discuss ways to improve the lives of persons with disabilities and create effective commitments for the upcoming summit in Berlin. Organized by Jordan, Germany, and the International Disability Alliance, the summit aims to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and ensure the implementation of these commitments.

During the conference, multiple discussions were held to address key issues related to the rights of persons with disabilities. The goal was to present concrete commitments that will be discussed and implemented at the global summit next year. Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, highlighted the importance of advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities and ensuring that their needs are met. She emphasized that the Arab League considers this issue a top priority and is committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusivity and equality for all individuals.

UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Anderson, underlined the importance of shedding light on the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, especially in conflict-affected areas like Gaza and Lebanon. She emphasized the need to address the overlooked suffering of persons with disabilities and their families and to understand the long-term consequences for communities and society as a whole when their needs are not met. By raising awareness and advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, the conference aimed to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all individuals.
