Qatari Prime Minister working on policies to enhance foreign investment opportunities

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, recently discussed various important topics in an interview on Qatar Television. He emphasized the need to build a strong and diversified economy, focusing on innovation and change. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of benefiting from the state’s investments post the completion of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 projects. He also mentioned the development of policies to attract foreign investment and drive economic growth in Qatar.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister acknowledged the need for improvement in government services and facilities. He stressed on the importance of preparing the next generation by enhancing the educational system to adapt to the industrial revolution and artificial intelligence. Additionally, he expressed a desire to enhance health services and create investment opportunities for the private sector. The Prime Minister mentioned that all citizens are equal in rights and duties before the law, emphasizing justice and equality as core principles in Qatar.

The Prime Minister discussed the constitutional amendments, highlighting the importance of preserving national unity and emphasizing equal citizenship in rights and duties. He mentioned that young people will have the opportunity to serve as Shura Council members as there is no legal age barrier. The Prime Minister assured that the powers of the Shura Council were not affected by the constitutional amendment, and H H the Amir was keen on ensuring transparency and public participation in the process. He reiterated the importance of public interest in decision-making and the need for experienced and competent individuals to serve as members.

Regarding Qatar’s mediation role, the Prime Minister emphasized Qatar’s history of mediation and its necessity in resolving conflicts. He mentioned Qatar’s efforts in mediating the Gaza issue and the importance of stopping the war in Lebanon to address the major crisis there. He expressed gratitude to those working towards stopping the bloodshed in Palestine and reassured continued efforts in achieving peace in the region. The Prime Minister emphasized that Qatar does not support launching attacks or wars from Al Udeid Air Base against any country in the region or outside it.

In terms of Qatar’s relationship with the United States, the Prime Minister described it as a strategic partnership characterized by cooperation at various levels. He emphasized the importance of both parties enjoying full sovereignty and not interfering in each other’s affairs. The Prime Minister highlighted Qatar’s commitment to maintaining a strong relationship with the United States while upholding mutual respect and cooperation. Overall, the interview with the Prime Minister shed light on various important topics related to Qatar’s economy, constitutional amendments, mediation efforts, and international relations.
