Qatar and Pakistan to enhance relations with emphasis on trade and investment

A joint statement was issued today by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, HE Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, to Doha. The statement highlighted the importance of fraternal relations between the two countries and the aspiration to enhance economic partnership, increase trade exchange, and promote investments. The meeting between His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, and Prime Minister Sharif focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of investment and trade.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality in Doha, emphasizing his keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and develop existing cooperation in various fields. He acknowledged the continuous support provided by Qatar to Pakistan in various areas and highlighted investment opportunities in vital economic sectors. Discussions also revolved around key opportunities in Pakistan, as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern. The meeting emphasized the need for peaceful solutions and cooperative efforts to address current challenges.

Additionally, a meeting was held between Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Prime Minister Sharif to explore avenues for collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and cultural exchange. Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, with Sharif expressing gratitude for Qatar’s role in supporting economic development in Pakistan. The importance of Pakistan as a strategic partner in the region was highlighted, along with a commitment to deepen economic ties for the common interests of both countries.

The visit also included a cultural element, with His Highness the Amir and Prime Minister Sharif visiting the exhibition “Manzar: Art and Architecture in Pakistan from the 1940s to the Present” organized by Qatar Museums. The exhibition showcased the rich cultural heritage and architectural history of Pakistan. Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to exchange high-level visits to enhance mutual understanding, deepen cooperation, and explore new horizons. The role of Qatar as a mediator in promoting peace in the region, particularly regarding the Palestinian issue, was praised by Prime Minister Sharif.

Overall, the joint statement from the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan underlines the commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing economic partnership, and promoting investments. The visit of Prime Minister Sharif to Doha reflects the close ties between Qatar and Pakistan, with a focus on cooperation in various fields, including investment, trade, and cultural exchange. The discussions during the visit emphasized the importance of peaceful solutions and cooperative efforts to address regional and international challenges, highlighting the mutual interests of both countries in promoting peace and stability in the region.
