The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Doha, Qatar, recently organized a two-day workshop in collaboration with the Public Prosecution on Law No. 5 of 2022, which focuses on the protection of victims, witnesses, and individuals in similar circumstances. The workshop brought together officers from various technical offices within the MoI, as well as officers from the protection department and public prosecutors. The main objective of the workshop was to shed light on the program, operation mechanism, and electronic services related to the enforcement of the victim and witness protection law, covering phases such as gathering evidence, conducting investigations, and litigation stages.

Lt. Col. Ghanem Khaled Al Hadaifi, Assistant Director of the protection department at the MoI, highlighted the key themes of the workshop, including an introduction to Law No. 5 of 2022 and the role of the MoI’s protection department in implementing protection measures issued by the Public Prosecution. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with government bodies, regional, and international organizations involved in the enforcement of protection measures for various crimes. The workshop aimed to not only educate officers on the legal framework but also address practical aspects of implementing protection measures.

The workshop served as a platform for officers to enhance their understanding of the legal provisions outlined in Law No. 5 of 2022 and the significance of protecting victims, witnesses, and individuals in similar circumstances. Through lectures delivered by experts in the field, attendees were able to grasp the complexities of enforcing protection measures in different phases of the law, from evidence gathering to the litigation process. The workshop also provided insights into the operational aspects of the protection department within the MoI and its collaboration with other relevant entities.

By focusing on the enforcement of the victim and witness protection law, the workshop aimed to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their duties in safeguarding the rights and well-being of individuals involved in criminal cases. Lt. Col. Al Hadaifi underscored the importance of continuous training and capacity building for officers to ensure the proper implementation of protection measures in line with the law. The workshop also served as a platform for networking and collaboration among various stakeholders working towards a common goal of ensuring justice and protection for victims and witnesses.

In addition to educating officers on the legal framework and operational procedures related to victim and witness protection, the workshop emphasized the role of technology in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of protection measures. By leveraging electronic services and tools, officers can streamline the process of implementing protection measures, facilitate communication and coordination among relevant parties, and ensure timely and accurate documentation of cases. The workshop highlighted the importance of staying updated on technological advancements and integrating them into the daily operations of the protection department to enhance overall performance.

Overall, the workshop on Law No. 5 of 2022 held by the Ministry of Interior in coordination with the Public Prosecution served as a valuable platform for officers to deepen their understanding of victim and witness protection laws and enhance their capacity to enforce protection measures effectively. By addressing key themes, operational mechanisms, and electronic services related to protection measures, the workshop equipped officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold justice, protect the rights of individuals involved in criminal cases, and strengthen collaboration with government bodies and international organizations. Through continuous training and education initiatives, officers can stay abreast of legal developments and technological advancements to ensure the proper implementation of protection measures in line with the law.
