The Minister of Interior and chairperson of the General Referendum Committee in Qatar has confirmed the completion of necessary preparations for the upcoming referendum process. The referendum will include both paper and electronic voting at designated centers, as well as remote voting via the Metrash application. This allows all segments of society, including those abroad, to exercise their right to vote as guaranteed by law.

In a press statement, the Minister called on all Qatari citizens who are 18 years or older on the day of the referendum to head to the voting centers on November 5, 2024, to express their opinion on the draft constitutional amendments for 2024. He emphasized the importance of broad participation in the referendum as a way to demonstrate the strong bond between the Qatari people and their leader, as well as the belief in national unity, social cohesion, traditional values, national principles, and a sense of historical responsibility toward the homeland.

The Minister’s message highlights the significance of citizen participation in the referendum process in shaping the future of Qatar. By engaging in the voting process, individuals can have a direct impact on the country’s constitutional amendments and contribute to the development of the state. This democratic exercise serves as a reflection of the Qatari people’s commitment to their nation and their willingness to actively participate in the decision-making process.

The availability of paper and electronic voting options, as well as remote voting through the Metrash application, ensures that all citizens have access to the referendum process. This inclusive approach aims to remove barriers to participation and enables individuals from diverse backgrounds to have a voice in the decision-making process. By providing multiple voting methods, the referendum committee is committed to promoting transparency, accessibility, and fairness in the electoral process.

The Minister’s call for broad participation in the referendum emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and the role of citizens in shaping the future of their country. By encouraging all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote, the Minister seeks to foster a sense of national pride, unity, and responsibility among the Qatari people. Through active participation in the referendum, individuals can contribute to the continued development and progress of Qatar, while also upholding the country’s cherished values and principles.

Overall, the Minister’s announcement regarding the referendum process in Qatar underscores the country’s commitment to democratic principles, citizen participation, and national unity. By providing various voting options and encouraging broad participation, the government aims to ensure a transparent and inclusive electoral process that reflects the will of the people. As Qatari citizens prepare to vote on the draft constitutional amendments in November 2024, they have the opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the future of their nation and upholding its core values and traditions.
