Constitutional amendments: A blessed step towards Qatar’s revival

The citizens of Qatar have expressed their support and enthusiasm for the draft constitutional amendments through their participation in the recent referendum. Held at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Hall in Al Sadd Club, voters highlighted the significance of the referendum as a crucial step towards Qatar’s renaissance and progress under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The constitutional amendments were seen as serving the interests of the nation and aligning with the vision of the Amir, demonstrating the citizens’ confidence in the leadership’s decisions. This positive response from the citizens reflects their awareness of the importance of actively participating in the referendum process.

Ali Ibrahim Al Sulaiti emphasized the importance of the constitutional amendments in enhancing social cohesion and unity within the country. He viewed the large voter turnout as a clear indication of the citizens’ willingness to engage in the referendum and contribute to the development of their nation. Similarly, Essa Al Abduljabbar described the referendum as a historic moment in Qatar’s journey towards progress and development, praising the leadership for prioritizing the nation’s interests. Moreover, Jassim Sohrab Mohammed highlighted the addition of pride and advancement that the referendum brings to the Qatari people under the wise guidance of the Amir.

QNA conducted a field tour across all 28 referendum polling stations to cover the voting process on the draft constitutional amendments for the year 2024. The atmosphere at the polling stations was described as patriotic, showcasing a sense of unity and satisfaction among the voters. The well-organized and coordinated voting process received positive feedback, with citizens participating with a strong sense of citizenship and belonging. The turnout reflected the collective commitment towards the country’s progress and national unity, marking an important milestone in Qatar’s journey.

The voting process for the referendum commenced with two methods available to the citizens. The first method involved direct voting either through paper ballots or electronically using iPads, requiring voters to be physically present at the polling stations with their Qatari ID or Digital Qatar ID. The second method allowed for remote voting through the “Metrash2” app, enabling citizens both within and outside the country to participate in the referendum. The accessibility of these voting methods aimed to facilitate a smooth and inclusive voting process for all eligible citizens, emphasizing the importance of active participation in shaping the nation’s future.

Overall, the citizens of Qatar have shown their unwavering support for the constitutional amendments through their participation in the recent referendum. Their enthusiasm and commitment to the voting process reflect a deep sense of patriotism and dedication to the development and progress of their country. The positive feedback from the citizens underscores their confidence in the leadership and their belief in the ongoing efforts to prioritize the nation’s interests. As Qatar continues on its path towards renaissance and advancement, the referendum serves as a pivotal moment in shaping the country’s future and strengthening its social fabric.
