Carnegie Mellon Qatar and Iberdrola sign a memorandum of understanding

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) has recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iberdrola Innovation Middle East to collaborate on education, scientific research, and community development initiatives. This partnership, which was signed by Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, and Santiago Bañales Lopez, managing director of Iberdrola Innovation Middle East, aims to create internship and employment opportunities for CMU-Q students and provide education and training for Iberdrola’s executive leadership.

Dean Trick expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that it will strengthen the ties between the two organizations and offer new opportunities for CMU-Q students to contribute to Qatar’s knowledge economy. Santiago Bañales Lopez also highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating that it will advance innovation and education in Qatar by combining expertise and resources to undertake joint research and cultivate a collaborative culture that benefits students, researchers, and the wider community.

Iberdrola Innovation Middle East, located at Qatar Science and Technology Park, is a leading innovation center focused on developing digital solutions for renewable energy integration, smart grids, and energy efficiency and conservation. CMU-Q offers undergraduate degree programs in biological sciences, business administration, computer science, and information systems, providing students with a transformative educational experience.

The collaboration between CMU-Q and Iberdrola Innovation Middle East not only aims to advance education and research in Qatar but also seeks to foster economic prosperity and create a brighter future for the country. By leveraging their respective expertise and resources, the two organizations are poised to make significant contributions to the innovation and education landscape in Qatar, ultimately benefiting students, researchers, and the wider community.

This partnership underscores the commitment of both CMU-Q and Iberdrola Innovation Middle East to promoting academic excellence, research collaboration, and community development in Qatar.
