The Qatar Boat Show 2024 showcased the impressive 50-meter traditional wooden yacht Afra, representing a blend of Arabian maritime heritage and modern design innovation. Built in the Emirates with a focus on GCC sensibilities, Afra is one of only four vessels of its kind worldwide, costing a staggering 9 million USD. Its most striking feature is its curved dhow construction, paying homage to the region’s maritime history but modernized with materials like fiberglass, aluminum steel, and carbon fiber for structural integrity and performance.

Afra’s interior design is equally impressive, with a spacious lounge spanning an unprecedented 24 meters from entrance to entertainment area. This is made possible through carbon fiber reinforcements, defying traditional yacht design constraints. The interior boasts a mix of traditional and contemporary elements, featuring Thai rugs and Italian marble throughout. Accommodation includes six luxury cabins serviced by a crew of eight, showcasing technical excellence with Caterpillar engines, generators, and an innovative air conditioning system for enhanced efficiency and comfort.

As a highlight of the Qatar Boat Show 2024, Afra joins over 450 marine brands, showcasing Qatar’s emergence as a maritime lifestyle hub. The presence of Afra at the event, attended by dignitaries and industry professionals, highlights the GCC’s influence in luxury yacht construction and design. This unique creation serves as a symbol of Arabian craftsmanship and innovation in the luxury maritime sector, embodying the show’s celebration of traditional maritime heritage and modern marine innovation.

Overall, the Qatar Boat Show 2024 featured the stunning Afra traditional wooden yacht, showcasing the GCC’s growing prominence in luxury yacht construction. With its fusion of traditional Arabian maritime heritage and modern design innovation, Afra stands out as a masterpiece in the world of yachting. Its unique construction, luxurious interior, and technical excellence make it a testament to the region’s capability to compete with traditional European yacht builders. The show’s lineup, including Afra, highlights Qatar’s emergence as a center for maritime lifestyle and industry, attracting boat and yacht owners, water sports enthusiasts, and maritime professionals from across the region.

In conclusion, the Qatar Boat Show 2024 provided a platform for showcasing the extraordinary Afra traditional wooden yacht, representing the GCC’s influence in luxury yacht construction. The vessel’s unique blend of traditional and modern elements, spacious interior, and technical prowess demonstrate the region’s ability to compete on a global scale. As Qatar emerges as a hub for maritime lifestyle and innovation, vessels like Afra serve as symbols of Arabian craftsmanship and excellence in the luxury maritime sector. The show’s success in attracting a diverse range of attendees and industry leaders further solidifies Qatar’s position in the maritime industry landscape.
