The 33rd Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) recently concluded at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center under the theme “Knowledge Builds Civilizations”. The event was deemed a success by Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and Director of the DIBF, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain. He highlighted the large public turnout and strong sales figures from various Arab and local publishing houses.
The cultural aspect of the fair was also emphasized, with many prominent thinkers and writers participating in 47 events such as symposiums, evenings, and discussion sessions. The Cultural Salon hosted 234 events including seminars and the launch of new publications, showing the writers’ enthusiasm to be part of this annual cultural gathering in Qatar.
A total of 515 publishing houses from 42 countries participated in this year’s fair, showcasing a diverse range of literature and knowledge. The success of the DIBF can be attributed to the public’s eagerness to attend and participate in the various events, indicating a growing interest in books and cultural activities in Qatar.
