The Unified Admission Center at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in Muscat has started the registration process for the second sorting of study programmes for the academic year 2024/2025. The registration period will run until Sunday, 10th November. Students from the previous academic year who have not yet registered in the system are eligible to apply for the second sorting vacancies. This includes students who were not offered a study seat previously, as well as those who withdrew from their seat. However, students who have already secured and completed the registration for their study seat are not allowed to participate in the second sorting.

The appendix to the student guide for the 2024/2025 academic year, available on the Unified Admission Center’s website, details the study opportunities open for the second sorting. There are a total of 3,416 vacant seats available across various programmes, unfilled due to a lack of applicants or rejection by previous candidates. These vacant seats are available in internal and external scholarships, placements at institutions like Sultan Qaboos University and vocational colleges, as well as programs for students with special needs and the Professional Competency Certificate programs in vocational colleges.

Eligible students can review the study programs they are qualified to apply for by visiting their registration page on the unified admission system. They should arrange their program choices in order of preference and interest in higher education institutions and specializations. It is important to note that previous program selections from earlier registration stages do not carry over to the second sorting registration page. Therefore, students must re-enter all the study programs they wish to apply for, even if they were listed before.

For students to be eligible to compete for programs at institutions like Sultan Qaboos University, external missions, and health specialities, they must have a competitive average equal to or exceeding the last accepted average in the first sorting round. Key dates have been set for the second sorting registration and acceptance process for the 2024/2025 academic year. After registration closes, candidates for program-specific tests will be announced, with these tests scheduled from Wednesday, 13th November, to Sunday, 17th November. Final acceptance results for the second sorting will be released on the evening of Wednesday, 20th November 2024.

Overall, the second sorting of study programs for the academic year 2024/2025 offers opportunities for students who were not offered a study seat previously or who withdrew from their seat. With a total of 3,416 vacant seats across various programs, eligible students have a range of options to choose from, including internal and external scholarships, placements at different educational institutions, and programs for students with special needs. Students are advised to carefully review the programs they are eligible for and arrange their choices according to their preferences and interests. The registration process is crucial for students to secure a study seat and pursue their higher education goals in Oman.
