The National Ferries Company in Muscat has experienced a significant increase in passenger numbers and cargo transportation to and from the Wilayat of Masirah in the first half of 2024. According to Zaher bin Hamad Al Rashdi, the Deputy CEO of the company, a total of 122,699 passengers were transported during this period, marking a 22 percent growth compared to the previous year. Additionally, 4,035 tonnes of goods were also transported, with 1,504 trips made to and from the island. This increase can be attributed to various factors such as the active tourism movement, tourism events and activities, and the unique natural components of Masirah Island.

One of the main reasons for the increase in passenger numbers is the active tourism movement on Masirah Island, which has become a popular tourist destination. The island’s natural components, including its exceptional marine environment and moderate weather throughout the year, make it a source of attraction for tourists. Furthermore, the hosting of tourism events and activities such as the Masirah Tourism Forum has contributed to the rise in arrivals to the island. These events aim to encourage investment in marine tourism and showcase the unique location and tourism components of Masirah Island.

The “ferries” service provided by the National Ferries Company between Masirah Island and Shanna Port has played a significant role in facilitating the movement of tourists and citizens between the island and the mainland. This service has also helped to enhance economic activities and services in the region. The growing demand for the ferry service reflects the effectiveness of the company’s fleet, which provides multiple, simplified, and new travel options for travelers. The service operates according to the highest standards of safety, security, and hospitality, ensuring a comfortable and reliable journey for passengers.

In conclusion, the National Ferries Company has seen a considerable increase in passenger and cargo transportation to and from Masirah Island in the first half of 2024. This growth can be attributed to various factors such as the active tourism movement, tourism events and activities, and the unique natural components of Masirah Island. The “ferries” service provided by the company has played a vital role in facilitating the movement of tourists and citizens between the island and the mainland, as well as enhancing economic activities and services in the region.
