The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Medical University of Bahrain recently hosted alumni events in Kuwait City and New York, USA, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to building a strong global alumni community. These events, organized by the Careers & Alumni Office, provided a platform for alumni to reconnect with faculty and personnel, network with fellow graduates, and celebrate their collective accomplishments. Moreover, the Alumni Ambassador program was introduced during these events, aiming to create mutually beneficial initiatives and establish a close-knit network with alumni living nearby.
Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, the Managing Director at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, led the celebration of the institution’s 20th Anniversary during the events, where he also announced campus expansion plans and upcoming initiatives. The events featured guest speakers from RCSI’s global network, who shared their professional experiences and offered guidance to attendees. In Kuwait City, Dr. Mohammad Albanna, Division Chief of Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery at Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Hospital, delivered the keynote speech. Additionally, Dr. Abdullah Rajab, Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialisations, also shared insights at the event.
In New York City, Dr. Graham McMahon, President & CEO of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and an RCSI graduate, delivered the keynote speech. The event was graced by notable guests including Professor Susan Moffatt-Bruce, President of Lahey Hospital & Medical Centre, and Dr. Wael Al-Husami, Medical Director of International Health & International Medical Education at LHMC.
