The election is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and will be conducted at Bahraini embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions abroad. This initiative is in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 59 of 2024 issued by the Minister of Justice.

The Ministry is collaborating closely with the Higher Committee for General Supervision of the Integrity of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, particularly through the Consular Services Sector. This collaboration involves informative meetings between diplomatic mission staff and the committee to ensure a smooth voting process, including the counting of ballots and the announcement of results. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging all eligible Bahraini citizens residing abroad to prepare for the election by ensuring their passports are valid. Citizens can renew their passports either through their nearest embassy or online via the Bahrain.bh website. A valid passport is a mandatory requirement for voting in the upcoming by-election. The Ministry emphasized the importance of upholding national gains and contributing to their strengthening through active participation in the electoral process.

In addition to facilitating the by-election, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to promptly address any inquiries from Bahraini citizens abroad through the Kingdom’s diplomatic missions or the Ministry’s Consular Services Sector. The Ministry’s commitment to providing assistance and support to overseas voters underscores its dedication to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. This proactive approach reflects the Ministry’s commitment to upholding democratic values and engaging with citizens abroad.

The by-election for the House of Representatives in Muharraq Governorate’s first constituency is a significant event for Bahrain, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is playing a crucial role in ensuring its success.
