The Embassy of India organized an Open House on August 30, 2024, chaired by Ambassador H.E. Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob, to address the Indian community in Bahrain. More than 70 Indian nationals participated in the event, which was conducted in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam languages. The Ambassador expressed happiness at the large turnout and also highlighted the recent Flag Hoisting Ceremony organized to celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day.
During the Open House, the participants were briefed on the e-Clearance for Afterlife Remains (eCARe) portal, aimed at streamlining the process of Public Health Clearance for transporting mortal remains to India. The portal can be accessed at https://ecare.mohfw.gov.in/. Additionally, the Embassy successfully repatriated a TB patient to his hometown with the help of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) after undergoing treatment at Salmaniya Hospital for an extended period.
Furthermore, out of the 21 stranded workers who attended the previous Open House, 19 have already traveled back to India after receiving their outstanding payments. The remaining two workers are scheduled to travel shortly, thanks to the timely assistance provided by the Ministry of Labour officials. The Embassy also continues to support distressed housemaids by offering boarding and lodging, issuing Emergency Certificates, providing legal assistance through ICWF, and arranging tickets.
The open house proved to be a productive and interactive session, where the grievances and issues of the Indian community were effectively addressed. Some concerns were resolved immediately, while others will be taken up for further action at the earliest. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to all officials involved in providing assistance and support to the Indian nationals in need. The Embassy remains committed to serving and assisting the Indian community in Bahrain.
