In line with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority’s (BTEA) commitment to providing exceptional tourism experiences, a special programme of tours was organised for the delegations participating in the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024. The initiative aimed to showcase Bahrain’s rich history and culture, enhancing participants’ experiences and solidifying Bahrain’s status as a premier tourist destination.

CEO of BTEA, Ms. Sara Ahmed Buhiji, emphasized that hosting the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 aligns with the Authority’s strategy to promote sports tourism as a fundamental component of the 2022-2026 tourism strategy. Sports tourism not only elevates Bahrain’s global sports destination status but also promotes cultural and athletic exchanges among participating nations.

The organised tours for the delegations demonstrate BTEA’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for young athletes worldwide, allowing them to engage closely with Bahrain’s identity. Ms. Buhiji expressed her hopes that this unique experience would leave a lasting impression on participants, empowering them to portray a positive and authentic image of Bahrain as a destination that seamlessly combines tradition with modernity.

The meticulously designed tours included visits to diverse destinations, such as bustling souks, reflecting key aspects of Bahrain’s heritage. Participants also had the opportunity to explore historical and archaeological sites like Bahrain Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcasing the Kingdom’s deep-rooted history.

Tour participants also had the privilege of visiting Bahrain International Circuit, a prominent sports venue hosting events like the annual Formula 1 races. Additionally, they explored Bahrain National Museum, offering an extensive overview of Bahrain’s history and civilization throughout the ages. The tours aimed to provide a comprehensive insight into Bahrain’s cultural, historical, and sporting attractions.

Overall, the special programme of tours organised by BTEA for the delegations participating in the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 exemplifies the Authority’s dedication to promoting sports tourism and showcasing Bahrain’s rich heritage and culture. By providing participants with extraordinary experiences and insights into the Kingdom’s history and identity, the tours contribute to fostering cultural exchanges and enhancing Bahrain’s reputation as a top tourist destination.
