The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain recently announced the launch of three tenders for the construction of 137 new housing units in Salman City. This initiative is part of the government’s “government land development rights” programme, which is a public-private partnership aimed at increasing housing supply in the country. The project is being carried out in accordance with directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

These new projects, covering 27,000 square meters, are divided into three packages: the first with 69 units, the second with 44 units, and the third with 24 units. The deadline for tender submissions is Wednesday, February 19th, 2025. This marks the seventh new housing project launched under the programme, with previous projects including the “Suhail” housing project in Al Luzi and a 131-unit project in Salman City, among others.

The ministry highlighted that the Salman City projects will benefit from ready infrastructure, which is aimed at streamlining the construction process for developers. This includes the provision of complete infrastructure and integrated services in the designated areas, ensuring timely completion and increasing the availability of housing units for citizens applying for housing finance programmes offered by the ministry.

The Ministry also confirmed that their team is actively preparing to launch additional housing projects under the same programme in the near future. This is expected to contribute to a significant increase in housing supply across the Kingdom, addressing the growing demand for affordable housing in Bahrain. Partnerships with private developers are also a key aspect of the programme, allowing for the efficient delivery of new housing units.

Overall, the launch of these new housing projects in Salman City is a positive step towards meeting the housing needs of Bahraini citizens. By leveraging public-private partnerships and ready infrastructure, the government aims to increase the availability of affordable housing units and streamline the construction process. With further projects in the pipeline, there is hope for continued growth in housing supply in the Kingdom.
