The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN) recently organized a meat processing training session for more than 30 Filipino attendees at the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain. The training aimed to equip Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with practical knowledge and skills that could help them start their own businesses or secure better employment opportunities. Dr. Amelito S. Adel, OWWA Welfare Officer, welcomed the participants and encouraged active participation, emphasizing the value of continuous improvement and excellence in their chosen field.

The training, conducted by Jeffrey Kerr Fredeluces and his assistant Nicomedes Cordero, Jr., focused on the transformation of raw meat into various food products such as nuggets, siomai, tocino, and Filipino sausage (longganisa). The trainors provided detailed explanations of the techniques and processes involved in meat processing, ensuring that the attendees fully understood each step. Participants from different parts of Bahrain demonstrated enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, with many expressing positive feedback about the training’s content and practical application.

Dinah Sta Ana, president of Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), highlighted the dual purpose of the meat processing training, emphasizing not only the enhancement of technical skills but also the improvement of economic capabilities among the participants. The success of such initiatives lies in their potential to empower OFWs to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and increase their competitiveness in the job market. Through collaborative efforts between OWWA, PIN, and other organizations, Filipino workers in Bahrain are being equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their chosen endeavours.

The partnership between OWWA and PIN reflects a shared commitment to the welfare and professional development of Filipino workers overseas. By providing hands-on training and educational opportunities, these organizations are enabling OFWs to acquire new skills and expand their career options. The meat processing training serves as a practical example of how targeted programs can make a significant difference in the lives of Filipino workers, equipping them with the resources needed to thrive in a competitive global market.

As participants engage in the training sessions and apply their newly acquired skills, they are not only enhancing their technical capabilities but also building their confidence and resilience in the face of economic challenges. The training represents a valuable investment in the future of Filipino workers, empowering them to take control of their professional growth and financial security. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, OWWA and PIN are laying the foundation for sustainable success among OFWs in Bahrain and beyond.

In conclusion, the meat processing training organized by OWWA and PIN signifies a step towards greater economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among Filipino workers in Bahrain. By equipping OFWs with practical skills and knowledge, these initiatives are creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, ultimately leading to a brighter future for the Filipino community abroad. Through collaboration and strategic planning, OWWA, PIN, and other stakeholders are shaping a new narrative for Filipino workers, one that emphasizes resilience, adaptability, and the pursuit of excellence in all endeavors.
