England’s Jude Bellingham scored the only goal in their Euro 2024 campaign opener against Serbia, winning 1-0. Bellingham’s powerful header came in the 13th minute after connecting with Bukayo Saka’s deflected cross. The 20-year-old midfielder set the tempo for England’s attacking play and received cheers from the fans at Arena AufSchalke. Gareth Southgate’s team initially found space down the right with Saka and full-back Kyle Walker creating threats in the first half.

As Serbia upped their game in the second half, England had to defend more as striker Dusan Vlahovic posed a dangerous threat. Serbia made attacking substitutions, and Southgate responded by introducing Conor Gallagher and Jarrod Bowen to maintain the lead. Despite Serbia’s pressure, England’s defense, featuring Marc Guehi and Kieran Trippier in unfamiliar roles, held out for the win. The victory put England at the top of the group after Denmark and Slovenia drew 1-1 earlier in the day.

England’s strong start to the Euro 2024 campaign was led by Jude Bellingham’s goal against Serbia. The 20-year-old midfielder scored from close range in the 13th minute after a well-placed cross from Saka. Bellingham’s performance set the tempo for England’s attacking play and earned praise from the fans in the stadium. Gareth Southgate’s team showcased a diverse attacking style, utilizing space down the right flank and creating chances through quick passing and movement.

Serbia posed a challenge in the second half, forcing England to defend their lead. Vlahovic’s attacking threat tested England’s defense, prompting Southgate to make tactical substitutions. Conor Gallagher and Jarrod Bowen were introduced to stabilize the midfield and maintain control of the game. Despite Serbia’s pressure, England’s defense, with Guehi and Trippier in unfamiliar roles, held firm to secure the victory.

The result placed England at the top of their group, setting them up for a crucial match against Denmark in the next fixture. The win over Serbia demonstrated England’s ability to adapt to different game situations and maintain their composure under pressure. Southgate’s team showed resilience in defense and creativity in attack, highlighting their potential as contenders in the Euro 2024 tournament. With key players stepping up when needed, England’s performance against Serbia signals a strong start to their campaign.

Looking ahead, England will face Denmark in their next match, where they will aim to build on their momentum from the victory over Serbia. The upcoming fixtures will test England’s depth and tactical flexibility as they compete against strong opponents in the group stage. With Bellingham’s goal setting the tone for the campaign, England will look to continue their winning streak and secure a spot in the knockout stages. The team’s performance against Serbia has boosted confidence and belief in their ability to compete at the highest level in European football.
