Emphasizing the Importance of Promoting Scientific Research and Innovation in Cybersecurity

The Executive Committee for Cyber Security in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries met in Doha, Qatar, with representatives from ministry, authorities, and cybersecurity entities attending. The meeting was aimed at fostering international cooperation and partnerships in cybersecurity. Abdullah bin Jassim Al Sayed, adviser to the President of the National Cyber Security Agency, highlighted the importance of the Gulf Cyber Security Strategy and the efforts of the technical committees under the Executive Committee. He stressed the need for sustained work and intensified efforts to achieve shared objectives in the region.

Maher bin Abdullah Al Saleh, Director of Communications and E-Government Department at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the meeting and for its support across various domains. He emphasized the importance of the agenda topics discussed and commended the joint efforts of the Gulf countries. The meeting included discussions on the comprehensive review of the Gulf Cyber Security Strategy, the first Cyber Security Hackathon, and the upcoming Gulf Cyber Drill to be held in Doha in November.

The participants also reviewed the agenda for the next meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Cyber Security in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, scheduled to take place in Doha in October. The focus was on promoting scientific research and innovation in cybersecurity by fostering talent and facilitating growth. The meeting aimed to strengthen cybersecurity measures in the region and enhance collaboration among Gulf countries. The attendees highlighted the need for continued cooperation to address cybersecurity challenges effectively.

The event in Doha underscored the importance of international cooperation in cybersecurity and the role of partnerships in advancing cybersecurity measures. The Gulf Cyber Security Strategy was hailed as a crucial framework for strengthening cybersecurity in the region. The efforts of the technical committees under the Executive Committee for Cyber Security were commended for their diligent work towards achieving shared cybersecurity objectives. The meeting emphasized the value of nurturing talent and promoting innovation in cybersecurity to address evolving cyber threats effectively.

The gracious hosting of the meeting in Doha by Qatar was acknowledged, along with the country’s unwavering support for the Gulf Cooperation Council’s endeavors. The upcoming Gulf Cyber Drill in November and the Ministerial Committee meeting in October are crucial events that will further enhance cybersecurity measures in the region. The collective efforts of the Gulf countries in addressing cybersecurity challenges were commended, highlighting the commitment to working together towards a more secure cyberspace. With continued cooperation and collaboration, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are poised to strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities and safeguard their digital infrastructure effectively.
