Embraer, a global aerospace company, is looking to expand its supply chain in India. The Executive Vice-President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain at Embraer, Roberto Chaves, stated that India has a robust aviation and defence industry, making it a viable option for manufacturers and systems developers in the country to become key suppliers to Embraer. The company recognizes the potential for Indian manufacturers to provide supplies for its defence, commercial aviation, and executive jet businesses. As a result, a high-level delegation from Embraer recently visited India to evaluate the expansion of its supply chain in the country. Recognizing the country’s aerospace engineering capabilities, Embraer foresees potential suppliers across various areas, including aerostructures, machining, composites, and hardware and software development.

Moreover, India is considered a strategic market for Embraer in all its business segments. Currently, the company’s footprint in India includes over 44 aircraft across Commercial Aviation, Executive Jets, and Defense & Security. The Indian government and Indian Air Force operate a fleet of Embraer VIP jets and military aircraft. Embraer views the Indian Air Force MTA program as a significant opportunity, as it is well-positioned to offer the modern C-390 Millennium transport aircraft in partnership with Mahindra, a reputed Indian company. This collaboration aims to implement an extensive local supply chain program in India, potentially including an assembly line for the C-390, aligned with the “Make in India” initiative of the Indian Government.

As part of its strategic vision, Embraer sees India as a key partner in the region and is working closely with Mahindra to fulfill the expectations of the Indian Government’s initiative. The company plans to offer a local long-term support program, reinforcing its commitment to the Indian market. Operating in the fields of Commercial and Executive aviation, Defense and Security, and Agricultural Aviation, Embraer designs, develops, manufactures, and markets aircraft and systems, providing services and support to customers after-sales. The company’s partnership with Mahindra and focus on expanding its supply chain in India reflects its dedication to driving aviation capabilities in the country to greater heights.

In conclusion, Embraer’s interest in expanding its supply chain in India highlights the company’s commitment to leveraging the country’s aerospace industry for its business growth. With a focus on key areas such as aerostructures, machining, composites, and hardware and software development, Embraer aims to establish strong partnerships with local manufacturers and systems developers to enhance its supply chain in India. By exploring opportunities in the Indian Air Force MTA program and collaborating with Mahindra, Embraer is positioning itself to offer cutting-edge aircraft solutions while supporting the “Make in India” initiative. This strategic move not only strengthens Embraer’s presence in the Indian market but also reinforces its global reputation as a leading aerospace company.
