In 2023, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) achieved significant success with total economic output reaching Dh18.3 billion from 76 large-scale exhibitions, international association conventions, and industry conferences. Key sectors such as ICT, healthcare, and food and hospitality led the way, generating Dh6.27 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) and attracting a substantial number of event attendees. The DWTC’s impact goes beyond just economic output, as it supports over 69,000 jobs and generates Dh3.36 billion in disposable household income into the local economy.

The DWTC plays a crucial role in Dubai’s economy by catalyzing growth across various sectors like hotels, aviation, transportation, retail, and restaurants. They are dedicated to maintaining their position as a key contributor to the city’s business and innovation ecosystem, working closely with sectors like technology, finance, and education to create a holistic environment for sustainable economic growth. International participation in DWTC events increased by 53% in 2023 compared to the previous year, with 1.54 million attendees traveling to Dubai and spending significantly more than local participants.

Events like GITEX Global and Gulfood have been instrumental in showcasing the DWTC’s expertise in delivering world-class exhibitions that resonate with global audiences. These events generated Dh7.22 billion in economic output and Dh4.15 billion in GVA in 2023, reflecting a 53% increase over the previous year. The DWTC’s robust events calendar, coupled with Dubai’s status as a premier international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination, has attracted record numbers of global businesses to the city.

Looking ahead, the DWTC remains committed to shaping the future of Dubai’s business tourism and trade by driving innovation, growth, and global collaboration. They are focused on sustainable development and sector diversification to reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading global business hub. The Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City is a key element of this strategy, offering over 58,000 square meters of event space capable of hosting multiple events simultaneously.

Overall, the DWTC’s continued success and expansion plans signal a bright future for Dubai’s economic journey, with a focus on driving sustainable growth and maintaining the city’s reputation as a dynamic center for business and innovation. Through strategic initiatives and collaboration with key sectors, the DWTC aims to solidify its position as a global leader in the MICE industry and a vital contributor to Dubai’s socio-economic development. With a strong foundation in place, the DWTC is poised to continue playing a central role in Dubai’s economic landscape for years to come.
