Doctors and sports coaches in the UAE are warning residents to reconsider engaging in outdoor sports activities as temperatures reach close to 50ºC. The recent death of amateur cricketer Mandeep Singh has raised concerns about the health risks of playing high-intensity sports like cricket and football in extreme heat. Sports coaches are emphasizing the importance of avoiding outdoor sports during peak heat hours and suggest scheduling activities after 6pm when temperatures are lower. It is crucial to understand that heat exposure can have severe consequences, including heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death.

According to doctors, heat exhaustion is a serious condition that can lead to life-threatening consequences if not addressed promptly. Athletes are particularly prone to heat exhaustion, and it is essential to recognize the symptoms, such as difficulty continuing with exercise. To prevent heat-related illnesses, doctors recommend avoiding strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day and allowing the body time to acclimate to hot weather before engaging in physical activities. Staying well-hydrated and consuming electrolyte drinks regularly are also crucial for preventing heat-related illnesses during exercise.

In response to the recent incident and the rising temperatures, coaches are advising a temporary break from outdoor sports and encouraging players to shift to indoor sports facilities to avoid the extreme summer heat. Residents are urged to prioritize their health and safety by choosing indoor sports or low-intensity outdoor activities after 6pm. It is better to be safe than sorry, especially for individuals with underlying health conditions, such as kidney or cardiovascular problems, who should avoid working out outside at any time of the day.

Despite the risks associated with playing sports in extreme heat, some players continue to rent sports grounds during the day due to the lower prices compared to nighttime. However, coaches and doctors emphasize that the health and well-being of athletes should take precedence over cost considerations. It is essential for players to address any symptoms of heat-related illnesses promptly and seek medical attention if necessary. Coaches and fitness experts recommend moving all fitness activities, including sports, indoors where it is safer and more manageable in extreme temperatures.

In light of recent incidents and the high temperatures in the UAE, sports coaches and doctors are urging residents to prioritize their health and overall well-being by avoiding outdoor sports during peak heat hours. The consequences of heat exposure can be severe and potentially life-threatening, especially for athletes engaging in high-intensity activities. It is crucial for players to listen to their bodies, recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and other complications. By shifting to indoor sports facilities or low-intensity activities after 6pm, residents can stay active while avoiding the risks associated with extreme heat.
