Dhofar Governorate is prepared for this year’s Khareef season.

The Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate is all set to launch its various programs targeting different age groups during the Khareef season this year. The goal is to attract a large number of tourists in collaboration with various sectors in the governorate. The Director General mentioned that the team has been working to prepare facilities for hosting events during the Dhofar Khareef season in 2024. The programs aim to bring in over 300,000 visitors from inside and outside Oman, focusing on offering diverse cultural, sports, and youth activities.

The program is centered on cultural, sports, and youth projects, hosting around 100 activities for governmental, private, and civil institutions. The Directorate plans to equip 28 facilities along with 20 sports facilities and halls in various wilayats to activate different sectors in the governorate. The emphasis is on inclusivity and variety in cultural, sports, and youth events to cater to a wide audience. With 20 cultural events spread out among workshops, specialized programs, art exhibitions, and the Dhofar Theatre Festival, the aim is to nurture creative talents and strengthen partnerships among community institutions.

In the sports and youth sector, there will be 34 sports programs and various women’s activities, including competitions and courses in the directorate’s facilities and sports centers across the governorate. Several initiatives will be launched, including 13 sporting events like football tournaments for both public and private sectors, hockey tournaments for youth clubs, chess tournaments, and beach games tournaments, to name a few. This year’s program will also include a sports caravan in its efforts to engage the community in various sports activities.

During the Khareef season, the Directorate General aims to create a vibrant atmosphere by promoting culture, sports, and youth activities that cater to a wide range of interests. By hosting a variety of events in different wilayats, the Directorate seeks to attract tourists and locals alike to participate and enjoy the festivities. The focus on inclusivity and diversity ensures that there is something for everyone, whether it’s cultural workshops, sports competitions, or youth programs.

The programs planned by the Directorate General aim to not only entertain but also educate and engage participants in meaningful ways. By providing opportunities for artistic expression, athletic competition, and youth development, the Directorate seeks to foster creativity, talent, and community spirit. Through partnerships with various institutions, the programs are designed to reach a wide audience and enhance the cultural, sports, and youth sectors in the governorate.
