Osool Poultry Company recently signed an agreement with Aviagen (Ross) company to establish a major poultry project known as “Jaddat” with an investment of OMR10 million. Aviagen will provide technical support to Osool in setting up and running the project, which aims to enhance food security and self-sufficiency in Oman by reducing the need for chicken imports.

This important poultry project will enable Osool Poultry Company to produce fertilized eggs, quality chicks, and other poultry products, helping to strengthen the poultry industry chain in the Sultanate of Oman. By establishing this project, Osool also hopes to minimize the risks associated with poultry imports, such as the potential transmission of disease pathogens to the country, and overcome logistical challenges.

Currently, Osool Poultry Company operates with a production capacity of 150 million eggs per year, mainly by importing one-day-old chicks from various countries. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources plays a vital role in supporting the poultry industry in Oman by transferring global knowledge and expertise, training local cadres, and promoting food security and self-sufficiency in the country.

The “Jaddat” project requires careful monitoring to ensure the health of the mother hens and the quality of the eggs produced. It also sets the stage for the establishment of private farms equipped with cutting-edge technologies for raising mother hens and producing hatching eggs. This initiative will help the Sultanate of Oman reduce its dependence on poultry imports and strengthen its domestic poultry production capabilities.

The agreement between Osool Poultry Company and Aviagen (Ross) signifies a significant step towards achieving food security and self-sufficiency in Oman by reducing the country’s reliance on chicken imports. The project will not only enhance the local poultry industry but also contribute to the transfer of knowledge and expertise in poultry farming and development.

With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Osool Poultry Company is well-positioned to establish a successful poultry project that will benefit the country in terms of food security, self-sufficiency, and economic development. By investing in innovative technologies and best practices, the “Jaddat” project has the potential to revolutionize the poultry industry in Oman and pave the way for a more sustainable and secure food supply chain.
