The Euro 2024 match between Spain and Croatia at Berlin’s Olympiastadion ended in a 3-0 victory for Spain. Despite the overwhelming support from Croatian fans, the team failed to match Spain’s attacking play. Coach Zlatko Dalic apologized for his team’s performance, acknowledging that they were not aggressive enough. Croatia’s game plan fell apart within the first half-hour, resulting in Spain scoring three goals. The Spaniards dominated the match with their high pressing game, leaving Croatia struggling to contain their pressure.

Dalic expressed hope that their poor performance was just a bad day and looked ahead to their upcoming matches against Albania and Italy. In anticipation of the remaining games, he made strategic decisions such as substituting off Luka Modric to give the captain a chance to rest. On the other hand, Spain had a dream start to Euro 2024, with Alvaro Morata scoring in the 3-0 victory. Lamine Yamal made history as the youngest player in the competition, contributing to Dani Carvajal’s goal that sealed the victory. Fabian Ruiz also scored a sensational goal, showcasing Spain’s attacking prowess.

Despite the disappointing result, Dalic praised the atmosphere created by Croatian fans at the Olympiastadion. However, their enthusiasm was not enough to lift the team’s performance as they were outplayed by Spain. While Croatia aimed to replicate their World Cup success at the Euro, they faced a formidable opponent in Spain. Morata’s goal in the 29th minute set the tone for Spain’s dominant display, with the team showcasing efficiency in attack. Yamal’s performance highlighted the team’s confidence and effectiveness, attributing their success to months of hard work.

The defeat served as a reality check for Croatia, highlighting the gap in quality between them and the top teams in Europe. Spain’s victory demonstrated their attacking prowess, dispelling previous criticisms of their lack of goal-scoring ability in major tournaments. The team’s performance in the match against Croatia showcased their potential to be a strong contender in Euro 2024. As the tournament progresses, both teams will aim to build on their opening match performances and secure a spot in the knockout stages. Although Croatia faced a setback against Spain, they will look to bounce back in their upcoming games and prove their capabilities on the international stage.
