The Ministry of Works in Bahrain is making progress on the second entrance of the East Hidd Housing Project, with completion now at 74%. This project aims to improve traffic distribution across the project’s exits and connect it to the main road network, increasing carrying capacity and enhancing traffic flow for quicker access for residents. Engineer Ahmed Sami Al-Tajer, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads at the Ministry of Works, highlighted the government’s focus on integrating infrastructure in new housing city projects to provide essential services and development projects for citizens.
The project involves constructing a two-lane road in each direction, linking Dry Dock Highway with the internal road network of the East Hidd Housing Project. Additionally, a roundabout will be built to serve the internal roads of the housing project, a water canal will be reclaimed and covered, a rainwater drainage network will be constructed, and a station will be established to pump rainwater into the sea. Lighting poles will also be installed, and necessary traffic signs will be placed to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.
The project was awarded to Sayed Kadhem Aldurazi & Sons by the Tender Board at a cost of 5,002,717.298 Bahraini dinars. This investment in infrastructure aims to improve transportation for road users and enhance connectivity within the housing project. The completion of the first phase of the project involved expanding the Al-Hidd housing crossing to two lanes in each direction and improving the intersection of Hatim Al Taie Avenue with Dry Dock Highway, facilitating better access to the housing project and surrounding areas.
