Competition announced to design monument for Sur, the Arab Tourism Capital 2024

South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in Muscat recently announced a competition to design the monument for Sur, the Arab Tourism Capital 2024. The competition targets Omani youth specializing in architecture, design, and various related fields. Dr. Yahya bin Badr bin Malik Al Maawali, the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, emphasized that the competition aims to stimulate creativity among the youth and support the tourism sector in the region. Choosing Sur as the Arab Tourism Capital is expected to boost tourism projects and initiatives in the area.

The supervising committee of the competition has prepared a technical guide outlining the conditions, standards, participation mechanism, and competition timeline. Ten participants will be selected in the first stage to proceed to the second stage, where they will present their project idea to a jury. Three winners will be selected to receive awards and recognition. Dr. Al Maawali highlighted the expected high level of competition due to Oman’s talented national individuals with exceptional creativity and architectural skills.
