Apple has recently announced plans to open four new retail stores in India, adding to the two stores already in Delhi and Mumbai that were launched in April 2023. The new stores will be located in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai. Apple has also revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, which are manufactured in India, will soon be available for local customers and for export to select countries around the world. Since beginning iPhone manufacturing in India in 2017, Apple has expanded its operations and now employs over 3,000 people in the country.

Apple’s latest iPhone offerings, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, were unveiled at the annual event on September 9. These new models feature Apple Intelligence, larger display sizes, innovative camera features, improved graphics for gaming, and are powered by the A18 Pro chip. The phones are available in four finishes: black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium. Pre-orders began on September 13, and the phones are set to be available from September 20.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail, expressed excitement about the expansion of Apple’s retail presence in India. O’Brien stated that the stores are designed to provide an incredible experience for customers and to deepen the connection with Indian consumers. Apple is looking forward to building its teams in India as it continues to grow its retail footprint in the country. O’Brien emphasized the creativity and passion of Indian customers and highlighted the opportunities for them to discover and shop for Apple’s products and services, as well as connect with the knowledgeable team members.

The recent growth of Apple’s operations in India is likely influenced by the Central government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which aims to attract electronics manufacturers to set up operations in the country. Several gadget makers, including Apple, have been drawn to India due to this incentive scheme and the potential for growth in the Indian market. The expansion of Apple’s retail stores and the availability of locally manufactured iPhone models further solidify the company’s commitment to the Indian market and its potential for growth in the future. With a growing presence in India, Apple is poised to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the country’s expanding consumer electronics market.
