Sonakshi Sinha is excited to play the girl next door in the recently released movie Kakuda, available on Zee5 Global. In a Zoom call with City Times, she explained how she enjoyed taking a break from powerful characters to portray a more relatable role. She plays the character of Indira, a strong-willed woman who goes to great lengths to help her husband get out of a supernatural situation in the horror-comedy film.

The movie revolves around twin sisters, Indira and Gomati, in a cursed village in Uttar Pradesh, where a spirit known as Kakuda targets only men who do not follow a specific ritual. When Indira’s husband falls victim to Kakuda, the couple and their friends must find a way to deal with the supernatural entity before it’s too late. The cast includes Saqib Saleem as Sunny and Riteish Deshmukh as a ghost hunter, adding to the mix of horror and comedy elements in the storyline.

Despite the challenges of straddling two genres, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem had a great time shooting the movie. Director Aditya Sarpotdar’s expertise in the genre and the well-written script made the experience enjoyable for the actors. The duo focused on executing their roles authentically while delivering the humor and thrills in the right places. Saleem emphasized the importance of staying true to the material in comedy films to create an engaging and entertaining experience for the audience.

Both Sinha and Saleem underwent preparation for their roles, including learning a specific dialect and practicing timing for comedic scenes. Saleem shared his quick decision-making process in choosing the script for Kakuda, highlighting the importance of connecting with the material instantly. Sinha, on the other hand, expressed her interest in exploring diverse roles across genres to stay engaged as an actor and challenge herself with each project.

For Sinha, the opportunity to return to a more familiar character as the girl next door in Kakuda was a refreshing change from her previous roles. With a mix of horror and comedy, the movie offers a unique storyline that keeps the audience engaged. Sinha’s versatility as an actor shines through as she effortlessly transitions between varied roles, showcasing her talent and commitment to delivering compelling performances. Fans of horror-comedy films can enjoy Kakuda’s blend of humor, thrills, and engaging characters on Zee5 Global.
