Bahrain Polytechnic recently announced the formation of the new Bahrain Polytechnic Student Council (BPSC) for the upcoming academic year 2024-25. The CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, revealed this development after an e-voting process that involved 27 candidates competing for positions on the council. The newly elected members held a meeting, during which Fawaz Aaref AlQasimi was chosen as the president of the student council. Faisal Mohamed Fathi was elected as the vice president, Zainab Ahmed AlGallaf as the secretary, and Talal Shaker Abdulla as the treasurer.

The committee positions within the student council were also allocated to various individuals. Shooq Radhi Alasfoor was appointed as the Sports Committee Chair, Muhannad Karim Alqassab as the Sports Committee Vice Chair, Bayan Abdulla Slais as the Art and Culture Committee Chair, Layal Hussain AlSairafi as the Art and Culture Committee Vice Chair, Deema Waleed Almulla as the Social Committee Chair, Nooh Taleb Mohammed as the Social Committee Vice Chair, Bayan Yaser Abdulla as the Student Services Committee Chair, and Maryam Yusuf Alradhi as the Student Services Committee Vice Chair.

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin congratulated the new members of the Student Council and wished them success in their positions. He encouraged the council to address the concerns and issues of the students, work collaboratively with the Polytechnic’s administration, listen to student suggestions, and organize events and activities that benefit the student body and the institution as a whole. The CEO also expressed his appreciation for the outgoing members of the Student Council for their dedicated efforts and successful events during their tenure.

In response, the newly elected Student Council President, Fawaz Aaref AlQasimi, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the students. He committed to working diligently with the new council members to convey the voice and suggestions of the student body to the Polytechnic’s management. This collaboration between the student council and the administration aims to enhance the overall experience and opportunities available to students at Bahrain Polytechnic.

The formation of the new Student Council at Bahrain Polytechnic signifies a fresh start and a strengthened commitment to student representation and engagement within the institution. With a diverse group of individuals holding key positions within the council, there is a potential for a wide range of student needs and interests to be effectively communicated and addressed. The newly elected council members have a responsibility to listen to their peers, advocate for their interests, and facilitate positive initiatives that contribute to the overall growth and development of the student community at Bahrain Polytechnic.

As the Student Council prepares to embark on their term for the academic year 2024-25, they have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student experience at Bahrain Polytechnic. By fostering open communication, collaboration, and proactive decision-making, the council can work towards creating a supportive and inclusive environment that benefits all students. The CEO’s encouragement for the new council members to prioritize student concerns and engage in fruitful partnerships with the institution’s administration sets a solid foundation for effective governance and student advocacy. The success of the student council lies in their ability to work together cohesively, prioritize student well-being, and implement initiatives that promote a thriving campus community.
